SUMMARY:ZIDANE: A 21ST CENTURY PORTRAIT
DESCRIPTION:Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait is a two-channel film installation conceived by artists Douglas Gordon and Philippe Parreno. Centered on the iconic French soccer star\, Zinédine Zidane—at the time among the most recognized players in the world—the work reimagines portraiture through the language of contemporary spectacle. Rather than documenting a career or recounting biographical milestones\, the artists construct an intense\, time-bound study of a single individual under the glare of global attention.

SUMMARY:Abstraction as Legacy
DESCRIPTION:Part document\, part subjective storytelling\, visual art illustrates and offers nuance to significant moments in U.S. history. From portraits of well-known leaders to history paintings that speak to the sacrifice and strength of the American people\, the power of paint to render subjects remains unquestionable. \nThe act of painting can also make history. Through hard edges and expressive forms\, American artists re-imagined painting and used abstraction as a mechanism to consider the human body\, natural environs\, architecture\, emotion\, and an economy of line. \nThis exhibition is not meant to be exhaustive but intended to highlight the breadth of painterly abstraction in the United States. Following the 1950s\, it became clear that the art world turned to the U.S. for ingenuity and boundary-breaking abstract art forms. From trends that arose in Havana and made it to the U.S. through exile to experiments developed in New York and Los Angeles\, the legacy of American abstraction evolves as rich and varied. The featured artists include Young-Il Ahn\, Sam Gilliam\, Carmen Herrera\, Hans Hofmann\, Virginia Jaramillo\, Lloyd Kiva New\, William de Kooning\, George Morrison\, Noemí Ruiz\, Zilia Sánchez\, and Vaughn Spann. \nOn July 4\, 2026\, the U.S. commemorates and celebrates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This historic milestone offers an opportunity to pause and reflect on this nation’s past\, honor the contributions of Americans\, and to look ahead toward the future we aspire to create for the next generation and beyond. The legacy of painterly abstraction in the U.S. offers a distinctive way to celebrate the creativity and innovation that defines the American spirit. \nImage: Virginia Jaramillo\, Sidereal Inscriptions #1-213\, 1988.

SUMMARY:Art on Lincoln 2026: Be a Part of Lincoln Road’s Temporary Public Art Installation
DESCRIPTION:Located amongst one of the most prominent pedestrian promenades for creativity and art\, Lincoln Road is excited to announce the launch of its 2026 Request for Proposals (RFP) for temporary public art installations as part of Art on Lincoln: Sculpture\, Installations and More. \nFollowing the success of last year’s inaugural Call to Artists program\, the initiative now expands into a formal RFP process\, inviting artists and artist teams to submit both their professional qualifications and a specific proposed artwork—either an existing piece or a newly conceived concept—for installation on Lincoln Road\, that welcomes more than 10.8 million visitors annually.\nThe selected work will be supported by a project budget of $75\,000 and showcased across all Lincoln Road Business Improvement District (LRBID) platforms\, providing extensive visibility and recognition in one of Miami Beach’s most visited destinations. \nScope of Work\nArtists are encouraged to propose either new or existing sculptural works\, immersive installations\, interactive pieces or mixed-media artworks suitable for temporary outdoor exhibition along Lincoln Road. Proposed installations should enhance the public realm\, reflect the energy\, diversity and cultural richness of Lincoln Road and engage a broad\, family-friendly audience. The selected artist will also be responsible for providing a maintenance plan for the duration of the installation\, which will be on display from November 2026 through May 2027. \nHow to Apply\nSubmissions are accepted from local\, national and international artists\, and collaborative proposals are permitted\, though teams must designate a lead artist or representative. Full submission guidelines and application details are available at lincolnroad.com/arts-culture/request-for-proposal/. The deadline for submissions is June 8\, 2026\, at 5:00 p.m. EST. \nSelection Process\nSubmissions will be reviewed by a panel of LRBID executive board members\, who will evaluate proposals based on professional qualifications\, creativity\, feasibility\, artistic merit and alignment with Lincoln Road’s cultural mission. The LRBID reserves the right to select one winning proposal or decline to award the project if submissions do not meet program standards.
