SUMMARY:MOCA North Miami Opens Alexandra Fields O'Neal: Bound//Unbound in Welcome To Paradise
DESCRIPTION:Join us in celebrating Alexandra Fields O’Neale’s installation “Bound//Unbound”\, part of MOCA’s Welcome to Paradise program. O’Neale’s immersive installation uses a symphony of sound narratives guided by the voice of the ocean and invites visitors to move between two enclosures that represent the journey from enslavement through the transatlantic slave route to freedom in the Bahamas. Interwoven with Miami’s historical significance as a milestone to freedom\, the installation challenges our understanding of the city’s past and pays homage to our ancestors’ stories. MOCA Members and invited guests will have the chance to meet the artist and enjoy specialty drinks prepared by our partners Rhum Barbancourt and Tripping Animals.
