Downton Abbey Upstairs/Downstairs themed Supper Club
The invitation:
The silver is polished, the table is laid,
The staff, we regret, have yet to be paid.
So each couple brings something humble and grand—
A little high-low, with a dish in hand.
Let Champagne meet chips, let the everyday shine,
Let a bargain compete with a very fine wine.
Bring your assigned course with a clever new twist;
We’ll tend to the main—and pretend we have hired a staff to assist.
Wear pearls or an apron, a waistcoat or two;
Your place on the staircase is quite up to you.
With flowers in tins and our very best plates,
An upstairs/downstairs evening awaits.
🍾 The evening begins with me awaiting my guests in my pajamas and tiara. The Duchess on her day off 😉
Flowers by @jennasleeman_aifd in red solo cups. Paper towel napkins, and post-it-note placecards.
The Hucks arrive with champagne in plastic cups.
Denie offers a fun game of guess which wine is the low, medium, or high choice.
The Rubinos bring a high deviled egg with crème fraiche and caviar and a low egg with potato chips and paprika.
The Mackles aka Moira and Johnny Rose alas had only banana pudding that they foraged from the local convenience store.
An evening to remember. 👑
This one is pretty special. 💙
Miami-Dade County has officially proclaimed September 19, 2026, Usher Syndrome Awareness Day.
When I was diagnosed with Usher syndrome, I already knew what it was because my brother has it. What surprised me was realizing how many other people had never heard of it—including many doctors. It’s a rare genetic condition but it’s the leading cause of combined deafness and blindness.
That’s one of the reasons I started Blindish in Miami: to share what I’m learning, bring awareness to this rare condition, and show what life with vision loss can actually look like.
We wrote about Usher Syndrome Awareness Day in this week’s 305 Hive Newsletter and we were able to pick up the proclamation from the mayors office.
One line in the proclamation especially stayed with me. It recognizes that people living with Usher syndrome “share their full identities beyond their diagnosis.”
I love that.
Usher syndrome is part of my story, but it’s definitely not my whole story. I’m still a wife, mom, friend, entrepreneur, tennis player, Miami girl—and now, an advocate too.
Today, on Usher Syndrome Awareness Day, I’m asking you to do one simple thing: learn a little about Usher syndrome. Share what you learn. Talk about it. Because for a rare disease that so many people have never heard of, awareness matters.
Thank you to Miami-Dade County for helping shine a light on Usher syndrome—and to everyone who has followed along as I learn to navigate life a little more Blindish. 💙

VD: Samantha is wearing a green dress and speaks directly to the camera while holding a large framed proclamation from Miami-Dade County. She begins by lifting the proclamation into view and smiling as she shares that Miami-Dade County has proclaimed September 19, 2026, Usher Syndrome Awareness Day. The video alternates between Samantha speaking and views of the framed proclamation as she talks about the importance of awareness and living a full life beyond an Usher syndrome diagnosis. On-screen captions display her spoken words throughout.
