The best thing about book clubs is that they push you to read outside your comfort zone. This month’s book pick, Demon Copperhead, fits that description. Had it not been written by one of my favorite authors, Barbara Kingsolver, I am not sure I would have chosen it, but I am really glad that I did. Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead follows the story of a young man struggling to survive in the most challenging of circumstances while maintaining his humanity. Written as a modern-day David Copperfield, Kingsolver, speaks for a new generation through a gripping novel worthy of Dickens’ original. I have a feeling both the story and the main character will stay with readers for a long, long time ~Lili
