Dear Hive, Seven years ago today, the very first 305 Hive newsletter landed in your inboxes. The short version of how that happened: I’d been reading and loving Just Ask Boo for fourteen years when a friend mentioned Boo was selling it. I called her. Two hours later I’d decided to buy it. Less than six months after our first issue, the world shut down, and for two years this newsletter was mostly just a way to keep a little light on, share something to look forward to, and shine a spotlight on local businesses who needed it. When Miami finally opened back up, we were still here. So were you. That’s the whole reason there’s a seventh year. And the in-person events that came after, the book club, our Health & Wellness event, the Women’s History Month tea, Wild About Miami- it all grew out of people wanting to be in a room together again. So thank you for reading, for forwarding, for showing up, and for being the best part of the Hive. One small birthday ask: forward today’s issue to one person who’d love it. That’s genuinely how this list has grown for seven years, one Miami friend telling another. Here’s to the next seven. 🐝 ~Samantha and Team 305 Hive® 🐝 P.S. I wrote the longer version of this story for FemCity last month, including the four marketing lessons I’d give anyone building something of their own. Read it here.
IMAGINE YOUR CHILD COULDN’T WAIT FOR SCHOOL?Your child was made for more than memorizing for a test. But too many classrooms dim their curiosity instead of fueling it. That’s not fair to kids. At Alpha, we believe every child has limitless potential. With 50 schools nationwide and now in our third year in Miami (campuses in South Miami and Miami Beach) we help students master academics in just two hours, with classes ranking in the top 1% nationally. Afternoons build leadership, grit, public speaking, and more. The result? Confident kids who love school. Space for 2027–28 is limited. Scan the code, pick your admissions event and see it for yourself.

MEET MAD MABEL, OUR NEXT READ
Our next Book Club pick is Mad Mabel by Sally Hepworth. At eighty-one, Elsie Fitzpatrick has spent sixty years on the same Melbourne lane, tea in hand and a sharp word for anyone who crosses her. Then an elderly neighbor is found dead, and her past comes knocking. Back in the 1950s, Elsie was Mabel Waller, the youngest person ever convicted of murder in Australia. Now the police and press are circling, and Mabel has decided it’s finally time to tell her side. Mad, misunderstood, or something in between? Grab your TICKET and come down under with us.

SEVEN YEARS OF BUZZING ABOUT MIAMI
Seven years ago, 305 Hive began with a simple idea: to help our community feel more connected to Miami—and to each other. To celebrate our anniversary, we asked you to share your Hive stories, and your responses reminded us exactly why we do what we do. We’re looking back at seven things we’ve learned in seven years, along with some of your stories, favorite things about the Hive, and a little nostalgia from along the way. Click HERE to read.

GROVE BANK & TRUST CELEBRATES 100 YEARS
Grove Bank & Trust, Miami-Dade’s longest-running bank, marks its Centennial. It was founded in Coconut Grove in 1926, weeks before a devastating hurricane. Since then it has financed Ryder Trucks’ growth, helped the University of Miami recover during the Depression, and funded dredging of the Port of Miami. The bank is also supporting The Barnyard, a West Coconut Grove center that offers free after-school and summer programs for children ages 5 to 13. “What better way to celebrate 100 years than by investing in the children and families who represent Miami’s future?” said President and CEO Jose E. Cueto.

WHEN THE TIDE COMES IN
If you’ve noticed water creeping onto Miami streets without a rain cloud in sight, King Tide may be the culprit. King Tides are the highest predicted tides of the year and can cause temporary flooding in low-lying areas. Miami-Dade’s remaining 2026 King Tide dates are Oct. 7–13, Oct. 24–30, Nov. 6–9 and Nov. 23–26. During King Tide season, avoid walking or driving through floodwater, move your car to higher ground when possible, and keep storm drains clear of leaves and litter. Living close to the water means knowing when the water may come to us.
