Dear Hive, There’s a shift happening in Miami right now. The pool days are still here, but the mornings feel a little different, like the calm before the school-bell storm. Whether you’ve got a kindergartner who has no idea what’s coming or a senior counting down their last first day, the Hive feels it too. This week we’re buzzing about all things back-to-school, plus where to eat, travel, and more. Let’s get into it. ~Samantha and Team 305 Hive® 🐝
YOUR KID WASN’T BUILT FOR A SIX-HOUR CLASSROOMMost kids spend six hours a day in a classroom that wasn’t built for them. Alpha Miami flips that story. Now entering its third year with over 110 students in grades K–11, Alpha helps kids master academics in just two hours each morning through AI-powered, personalized learning. Afternoons belong to the kids—led by Guides (their teachers) as they build real-world life skills and chase projects they love, like entrepreneurship. It’s mentorship, not lecturing. The result? Students who actually love school and rank among the nation’s top performers. Curious what your child could become? Join us at one of our Fall Open Houses, starting in September.
MEET THE DIETITIAN BEHIND EXPECTING TOGETHERIf you’ve spent any time in Miami’s wellness world, you probably know Monica Auslander Moreno. The registered dietitian and mom of two has built her career around women’s health, and now she’s bringing something special home. When founder Georgia Kastaris launched Expecting Together in Chicago, she tapped Monica to review the nutrition curriculum and lead an antenatal nutrition session. The two hit it off, and when it came time to pick a second city, Monica made the case for her hometown. Brooklyn was the original plan. Miami won. Launching this August at Ollie Pediatrics in South Miami, Expecting Together is part social club, part clinician-led curriculum. Small cohorts of expecting parents are matched by due date and neighborhood, so the friendships you build in class stick around long after delivery. Registration is open for families expecting in late 2026, and the program is FSA/HSA eligible. To learn more or join an upcoming cohort, visit their website or follow them on Instagram.

BOOK BEES TAKE OVER THE COLLABOur Book Club event featuring The Calamity Club was the place to be on Tuesday night, a sold-out evening with an amazing group of ladies. The Collab pulled out all the stops; the food was delicious, the wine flowed, and the conversation was even better, equal parts book talk and friendly fun. From the first debate to the last sip of wine, this is exactly what being a Book Bee is all about: great stories and even better company. Thank you to everyone who came out and made it a night to remember.
JOIN US FOR A FOUNDING MOTHERThe Book Bees are traveling back to 1776, no time machine required. A Founding Mother by Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie puts Abigail Adams, wife of one president and mother of another, front and center where she belongs. Set against revolutionary Boston’s riots, blockades, and the outbreak of war, it’s the perfect read as America marks its 250th birthday this year. Smart, saucy, and impossible to put down, just like Abigail herself. Grab your TICKET and join us.
KEEP IT CLEAN THIS HURRICANE SEASONHurricane season means stockpiling supplies, and it’s easy for that to mean stockpiling plastic too. A few swaps go a long way: reusable water jugs instead of a pallet of bottled water, rechargeable batteries and lanterns for the flashlights, and a bin for cardboard once the storm shutters come down. On the heat front, ditch single-use ice bags for a reusable cooler, and help the AC blast by closing blinds midday. Small habits, big difference for our canals and coastline. Prepared doesn’t have to mean wasteful.
A DINING EXPERIENCE WORTH SAVORINGThis year, over 300 restaurants across South Florida are participating in Miami Spice, an initiative designed to make fine dining more accessible to the community. Among them, Truluck’s Ocean’s Finest Seafood and Crab has earned a spot on our “must-try” list. From their ahi tuna tartare served over avocado and mango salsa to a rich, comforting lobster bisque, and a Branzino that transports you straight to the Mediterranean, every course is thoughtfully prepared. With a warm, elegant atmosphere and hospitality reminiscent of a European dining experience, Truluck’s breaks away from the much-too-familiar “order, eat, pay, and leave” rhythm that’s so common in Miami’s fast-paced restaurant scene. Our favorite touch was the “Sommelier Secret” challenge, where guests put their wine knowledge to the test by identifying a mystery pour. Guess correctly, and the glass is free! And for the night owls, Truluck’s is keeping the evening going with its new late-night happy hour available, check out their website for more information.
LABEL IT BEFORE YOU LOSE ITWhen your kid heads back to school, make sure everything comes back to you. The Phomemo D30 is a palm-sized label maker that pairs with your phone and prints instantly, no ink, no mess. Label lunch boxes, water bottles, folders, and pencil cases in seconds so nothing gets left behind or mixed up with someone else’s. It’s rechargeable, pocket-sized, and genuinely easy to use, even for the least tech-savvy parent in the group chat. A small habit that saves a lot of “have you seen my…” texts. We’ve added it to our Amazon storefront as a Hive-approved pick.
