To ensure you and your child’s safety, please follow these safety tips this Halloween:
- Accompany young children while they trick or treat.
- Have a plan in case you get separated, for example, point out a house on each new block that you should meet at.
- Plan and review safe travel routes.
- Agree on a specific time your older children should return home.
- Teach children to never enter a stranger’s home or car.
- Advise children to travel only in familiar, well-lit areas, and to stick together with their friends.
- Make sure your children do not eat any treats until they return home.
- Be careful with some masks that can obstruct vision.
- Carry a flashlight, some streets do not have street lamps. Glow sticks and necklaces are great too.
- Put electronic devices down, keep heads up and walk, don’t run, when crossing the street.
