female friendship might be life’s greatest gift

Dear Hive,

Recently, I was at a lunch with girlfriends where we did something simple and surprisingly powerful. One by one, we each chose a woman at the table and offered a toast. It could be anything: a favorite recipe she’s known for, a quality we admire, or a moment when she showed up when it mattered most. What stood out wasn’t just the kind words. It was the recurring theme. Again and again, we came back to the power of female friendships. The women who are genuine and welcoming. The ones who lift you up when life gets messy. The ones who offer advice on difficult kids, annoying husbands, career crossroads, and everything in between without judgment and usually with a good laugh. True friendship isn’t flashy. It’s steady. It’s showing up. It’s being honest, kind, and generous with encouragement. And in a world that moves fast and demands a lot, those relationships are among the most meaningful things we can hold onto.

Honor your friends in small ways whenever you can. And if you know a woman who deserves to be honored in a big way, nominate her to be celebrated at our Women’s History Month Tea. See below for details.

HIGH STANDARDS AND HIGH SUPPORT AT ALPHA

We spent Saturday morning at Alpha School Miami for their Parent Education roundtable workshop; it was the perfect blend of tech and community. Parents enjoyed a yummy breakfast, jumped into a fun quiz on their phones paired with a live Q&A, and left with practical takeaways they can actually use at home. One of the biggest reminders? Support doesn’t mean solving. High expectations plus the right kind of support equals confident kids, deeper learning, and stronger character. Breakout groups by grade level made it even more personal, and you could feel the connection in the room.

BOOK CLUB EXPERIENCE: THEO OF GOLDEN

Join us for our next Book Club Experience. This month’s read invites us into a thoughtful, beautifully written story about identity, legacy, and the quiet pull of where we come from. Theo of Golden follows its protagonist as he navigates family expectations, personal ambition, and the search for meaning, all while moving between worlds that feel both familiar and foreign. It’s the kind of book that sparks meaningful conversation, rewards slow reading, and reminds us why gathering over good books (and good company) never goes out of style. Click HERE to learn more.

BLESSING BAGS NEEDED | BY STUDENTS OFFERING SUPPORT | REPLY

January sees an increase in the number of children entering Miami-Dade foster care system. This influx often results from parents overspending during Christmas, leading to evictions and other hardships. SOS will pack 100 new “Blessing Bags” for distribution to children who often enter foster care with no personal belongings. A total of 1200 items are needed to accomplish this important goal! Check out the WISHLIST if you can help.

HELP NEEDED | BY AMY ZAMBRANO | REPLY

Miami Bridge shelter for homeless youth needs help. They’re short on staff and funding and are seeking volunteers to host weekend activities for the kids—arts & crafts, cooking or baking, spa days, sports, picnics, or gardening (a big wish). They’re also looking for donated outings (movies, bowling, museums, zoo, etc.) and outdoor games or sports equipment. Any help or ideas are deeply appreciated.
